This book is one of the few that my very active 19 mo old daughter will actually sit through an entire reading of.

The story is cute and funny but the illustrations are what really make the book come alive. My daughter loves to pretend she is eating the strawberry too!

Definitely the best book I’ve seen for toddlers!

The Big Hungry Bear : Little Mouse, and the Red Ripe Strawberry was the first book that my daughter was able to read!. We would read about the clever mouse every night at bed time. She actually memorized the book word for word from cover to cover. I attribute the Big Hungry Bear and the clever mouse for starting my daughter on her never ending desire to read. I’m ordering a new copy for her to give to a child she has been working with that has a reading disorder. She is now 12 years old, but still will not give up her copy of the book.

  3. I got this book for my little baby boy, he is 15 month old, and he just love it!! we read the book to him for some time and then he got the sign the little mouse does at the end of the book with its fingers and now my baby does it any time he has strawberries for dessert or any time he likes something… he run to get the book when we ask for it and sat on my lap and we read it together. He love strawberries also, and I’m wondered if it is because of the book!

The story is really tender and the pictures are pretty and sweet. The story allows you to interact with the mouse in the book and that is a plus.

we love the story and I’m glad I got the book for my boy!! I recomend it to all parents!

  4. My kids ask for it again and again…It looks and sounds like a lasting classic. The pics could be more colorful ..but like I said it looks like a classic and the kids obviously dont care. It is a great funny story. should be part of your collection

This has been a favorite book of two grandsons and now my 4 year old granddaughter. She can tell the whole story with expression and her own spin on it. We love to play The Big Hungry Bear, where she is the Mouse and I am the Bear looking for the red ripe strawberry. Sometimes she shares it with me! This story is so much fun and you never actually see the big hungry bear except the shadow on the back of the book. Definitely in the top 3 of children’s books!
